As the world slowly opens up as it struggles to heal from the COVID-19 Pandemic, all of us are doing our best to adjust to the new normal. With old routines gone together with the demise of numerous businesses and what could have been, we consciously try to navigate through the various changes around us.

However, in the process of wanting to make up for lost time, opportunity and money, we forget to acknowledge the most important thing of all when it comes to surviving in the new normal: Self-care. More than anything, the entire COVID-19 pandemic taught us to value ourselves first, our health and wellness, included.

So here are some self-care tips I would like to share with you guys to enable you to survive and eventually thrive in the new normal as you become the next you: your own #bestmeever:

Take your time to adjust. At your own pace, in your own space. Allow yourself to do what you can with what you have. Donā€™t force anything just to get immediate results. Allow yourself to grow with the flow.

Reevaluate yourself and your goals. Given the new situation, do a self check: what no longer works for you? What do you need to do differently? What path should you now pursue? Embrace change from a space of openness rather than resentment.

Develop a new healthy routine. Plan your days strategically. Allot time for work, for exercise, meditation and small breaks in between. Balance is key. Remember your physical, mental and emotional health are of equal importance.

Practice intentional living. This refers to consuming / taking in only what is good for you: food, news, social media feeds, etc. When you become intentional in everything that you do, you allow yourself to grow and flourish in the process amidst the seeming chaos around you.

Create new meaningful and inspiring connections. Do not let physical distance get in the way of nurturing beautiful new relationships that will inspire you to be your best. Exert more effort getting out of your comfort zone while getting to know people who would add value to your life as you let go of those who donā€™t. Sanitizing the company you keep is a must.

Reward yourself once in a while. Be grateful that youā€™ve made it this far. Remember to celebrate small wins in between big milestones. Get yourself your favorite ice cream, treat yourself to a massageā€¦ whatever that will make you feel good about yourself. Amidst all that is happening around you, you still deserve it.
