Liver & Lung’s debut single, In My Arms, has been released today. The song is now available to stream on Spotify and all other music stores. In My Arms is a folk-pop song that combines a unique contemporary sound with innovative storytelling. Inspired by the Malaysian legend of Mahsuri, a tale of a beautiful woman wrongly accused of adultery, the track captures the feeling of falling in love for the first time in a delicate and nuanced way, aided by a milieu of innocent and mythical sounds.
The studio experimenta<on showcases gentle guitar strings and popular chord progressions, underpinned by a traditional Malaysian flavour, evoked from the fabled lands Mahsuri sprang from.
“In My Arms” was first composed by Shafeeq Shajahan for a musical short titled Mahsuri (& Other Peculiar Tales); a recent finalist in the Shorts Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo. The song features rising stars, Badrish, and Irena Taib of The Impatient Sisters.
A lyric video of the track, developed using excerpts from the film adaptation, due to be released later this year, can be seen here;
