Campaign Asia-Pacific has released the results of its eagerly-anticipated 17th annual Asia’s Top 1000 Brands survey in partnership with Nielsen. This year’s ranking saw Samsung’s continued dominance in top spot, but it also had some twists. Perennial favourite Sony slipped from the ranking’s Top 5 for the first time ever. Some Chinese brands that had been steady climbers like Huawei and Xiaomi experienced setbacks this year, while others, like Hisense, Midea and Didi Chuxing rose the ranks.
Facebook apps Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp all scored highly in a newly added ‘messaging service‘ sub-category and this year Campaign Asia-Pacific also polled APAC consumers on which brands had the best sustainability record.
Asia’s Top 1000 Brands is the most comprehensive consumer opinion survey in Asia-Pacific involving more than 8000 consumers across 14 different assessing brand preferences in 15 product/service categories. It is a fascinating temperature gauge, showing which brands are succeeding with their marketing and brand-building efforts, and which aren’t managing to land their names ‘top of mind’ as customers’ favourites.
