The Kancil Awards 2020 and the Kancil Creative Festival 2020 have been postponed till 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO).
Organised by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents of Malaysia (4As), the Kancil Awards are Malaysia’s longest running and most prestigious advertising awards competition. The participation of the major agencies and their creative heads in the Kancil Awards attests to its standing in the industry, both in Malaysia and internationally.
“The MCO period has been a difficult time for most agencies. There is a need to now focus on helping clients while ensuring that agency staff are well protected and remain safe and healthy. While various options were considered, including a fully virtual or hybrid event, in the end, the difficult decision was taken to postpone the Kancils till 2021,” said Karthi Palasamy, Organising Chairman of the Kancil Awards.
Since 2018, the Kancil Awards have been presented as the culmination of the Kancil Creative Festival, a two-day event that brings together thinkers and do-ers from a variety of disciplines, highlighting the wider creative world beyond the advertising industry. The Creative Festival includes exhibitions, mini workshops, dialogue sessions, and immersive experiences, all serving as a catalyst for a cross fertilisation of ideas, thoughts, and projects.
“As the saying goes, ‘Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.’ We look forward to seeing the brilliant creative work and forthright discussions that will undoubtedly emerge from these unprecedented times, at next year’s Awards and Creative Festival,” added Karthi.
New dates for the Awards and the Creative Festival will be announced in due course, together with the awards rules and eligibility requirements.
